METAIRIE, La. (AP) - The Saints have placed reserve veteran cornerback and former LSU player Randall Gay on injured reserve because of lingering effects from a concussion that occurred during a Week 2 victory at San Francisco.
The move, announced by coach Sean Payton on Wednesday, means Gay will be out for the rest of the season.
New Orleans also added a cornerback to the roster, signing Quincy Butler.
Butler has been in the NFL off and on since 2006, when he appeared in a game with Dallas. He spent the past two seasons in St. Louis, appearing in 14 games in 2009 and starting seven.
The Saints also released linebacker Clint Ingram, who had yet to practice while recovering from offseason microfracture surgery on his left knee.
