Heavy rains will continue across most of Acadiana through the early part of the afternoon Tuesday. Most areas have seen rain and western sections of Acadiana have received up to three inches of rain. Also some wind gusts have exceeded 50mph with some minor tree damage reported in Evangeline Parish.
The line of rain and storms will slowly move across the region with most of the rain ending early this afternoon. An urban and small stream flood advisory has been issued for most of Acadiana this morning. This means coulees, small streams, roadways, and drainage basins will likely flood.
A Flood WARNING is in effect again for the Vermilion River at Surrey Street. The river was nearing the flood stage of 10 feet at 9am and will rise as the rain continues. The river had just gone below flood stage Monday for the first time since the flooding rains two weeks ago.
