DeSoto Parish authorities are holding community meetings to raise awareness of the danger to pets if they are not vaccinated for rabies.
The meetings were set up after two skunks captured in the Stonewall area tested positive for the deadly virus that attacks the central nervous system.
Harold Renfro with DeSoto Parish Animal Control and local veterinarians will take part in the meetings, offering tips on protecting pets from rabies.
Upcoming meetings are planned for:
- Mansfield: Tuesday, 6 p.m., Mansfield branch library.
- Logansport: July 25, 6 p.m., Logansport branch library.
- Pelican: July 30, 6 p.m., Pelican branch library.
