GOLDEN MEADOW, La. (AP) - Qualifying for seats on the Tribal Council of the United Houma Nation remains open through March 30.
The Franklin Banner-Tribune reports the Tribal Council is composed of 10 districts in Terrebonne, Lafourche, Jefferson, St. Mary, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes.
Candidates must be a registered tribal voter, be over 25 years of age and meet other requirements.
Interested persons can complete an eligibility form at the tribe's main office, 20986 Louisiana Highway 1 in Golden Meadow. More information is available from the trial office at 985-475-6640.
Elections will be held on June 2.
