Public's help needed in identifying armed robbery suspect

Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying an armed robbery suspect that shot a man in New Iberia this morning.

According to Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal, at 3:50 a.m., patrol deputies responded to the intersection of Lombard and Corinne Streets concerning the report of a shooting. According to the victim, he along with another individual was approached by the suspect who produced a hand gun and demanded money. The two individuals ran from the suspect, according to police. The suspect allegedly fired one shot at the suspects striking one of the victim in the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

The suspect is described as a black male with short dread locks and wearing camouflage pants, according to Sheriff Ackal. Detectives with the Bureau of Investigation are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information concerning this incident is urged to contact Detectives at 337-369-3711.
