Public's assistance sought in identifying shooting suspect

The public's assistance is needed in identifying a shooting suspect.

According to police, On Saturday at 10:15 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 300 block of Dewey Street regarding a shooting. According to the victim, he was at a gathering when the suspect came onto the property wearing all black and a ski mask. The suspect attempted to rob a third party at gun point when the victim intervened, said police. The suspect fired at the victim, striking the victim in the left side. The suspect fled the area on foot with a neck chain. The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Lafayette Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
