Public's assistance sought in identifying 2 home invasion suspects that beat a pregnant woman

St. Mary Parish deputies are asking for the public's help identifying two suspects that beat a pregnant woman during a home invasion.

Today, at 11:25 a.m., St. Mary Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 7000 block of Highway 87 in Charenton, according to St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Traci Landry. Deputies say two men wearing masks and dark clothing attacked a pregnant woman, hitting and kicking her, after she arrived at the home. The victim was able to escape and fled to a neighbor's home nearby, stated Landry. The victim was transported to Franklin Foundation Hospital and is listed in stable condition. Investigators are now seeking information from anyone who may have seen the suspects in the area.

Deputies only have very vague descriptions.  One suspect is described as a black male of average height with a husky build. The second suspect is described as a black male with a thin build.

Anyone having information on this crime is asked to call the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office at (337)828-1960 or (985)384-1622.
