United Way is hosting community conversations about education. "The purpose of these meetings is to provide a non-threatening, relaxed forum where interested or concerned citizens can come to share their desires, concerns, suggestions and experiences and to listen to what others have to say about education in our community," said Executive Director Ginger LeCompte.

The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way is encouraging parents, grandparents, educators, businesses, and any other stakeholder to go to one of the five scheduled meetings. "We are even inviting older students, including those who have dropped out of school," said LeCompte. "I believe we can learn a lot from some of those students who simply gave up."

Schedule of Community Conversations:

Tuesday, August 7 at 5:30pm at New Life Church of God Campground, 445 Campground Rd., Palmetto

Thursday, August 9 at 5:30 pm at Krotz Springs Refinery - Alon Center, 3245 Levee Rd., Krotz Springs
