Protesters gathered outside Kaplan High School this morning to support their principal after they saw her job posted as open.
Laura Lebouef is currently on medical leave, but some students and parents are disappointed because her position was recently posted.
"We want Miss Laura as our principal," said protester Alberta Rudd. "She deserves to be at Kaplan High. Miss Laura Lebouef is Kaplan High. We want Miss Laura back."
The Vermilion Parish School Board's attorney, Woody Woodruff, tells KATC that Lebouef has not been fired. Woodruff says Leboeuf still has her principal's position and salary while on medical leave even though she does not have an assignment.
Woodruff also says that the law requires the school board to post an open position even when medical leave is the reason for the vacancy.
