President criticizes Congress

GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) - President Barack Obama is accusing Congress of being less concerned about the economy than about what he calls "an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals." Speaking at a college campus in Illinois, Obama promised some new ideas in the weeks ahead, on manufacturing, education, housing, retirement security and health care. But Republicans say he's offering little more than vague, empty promises.
