On November 3, 2010 at approximately 06:00 p.m. Sheriff Louis Ackal advised agents with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol section conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 90. According to the agents, a search of the vehicle resulted in the location of 1014 units of various controlled prescription medication.
Sheriff Louis Ackal said, "This is an example of my commitment to keep illegal narcotics from entering Iberia Parish and finding its way on to our streets".
The driver, identified as Kenneth Garner age 44 of Houma, LA, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule III narcotics, two counts of possession with intent to distribute schedule IV narcotics, and second subsequent offence. There were two other passengers in the suspect vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. They were Jodie Franklin age 33 of Houma, LA and Keith Blake age 42 also from Houma, LA.
Franklin was charged with principle to possession with intent to distribute schedule III and IV narcotics. Blake was charged with principle to possession with intent to distribute schedule III and IV narcotics, also with second subsequent offence. All three suspects were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
