OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - A 24-year-old Prairieville man has been
sentenced to two concurrent 28-year jail terms after pleading
guilty March 2 to two counts of manslaughter.
Blake Cannon Reine was sentenced on Thursday.
The Daily World reports the charges stemmed from a May 16 crash
on La. Highway 182 north of Opelousas that took the lives of
Reine's passenger, Jody Reine of Gonzales, and the driver of a
second vehicle, Joseph Lee Campbell of Opelousas.
The crash happened shortly after Reine had left the scene of a
prior hit-and-run accident in Opelousas.
After the first crash, Reine was being pursued by an Opelousas
police officer, when Reine ran a red light and collided with
Campbell's vehicle.
