Prairieville man killed by train

GONZALES, La. (AP) - Deputies say a 21-year-old Prairieville man died when he was hit by a southbound train in Ascension Parish.
Lt. Col. Bobby Webre tells The Advocate a Kansas City Southern train ran over Ryan Freeman around 3:15 a.m. Saturday as he lay between the railroad tracks.
Webre says the train's conductor said Freeman never looked up or moved as the locomotive approached.
Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner's Office.
