Allied Waste Services:
Allied Waste will be stepping up efforts beginning on Labor Day to clear debris resulting from Hurricane Isaac. In addition to regular waste service in the city of Lafayette and in unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish, residents can bring downed branches, exceeding the usual four-foot limit, to the curb for collection. All Lafayette city residents and those in unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish will have waste collection on their usual day during the week of Labor Day.
Allied Waste will also collect bagged debris placed on the ground, if the 96-gallon garbage cart is filled. Damaged wood from homes and water-damaged furniture will not be collected with the expanded service.
Residents are asked to place all branches and bagged debris a minimum of three feet from the garbage cart, and away from other obstructions such as mailboxes, fire hydrants, fences, and utility poles and boxes.
Call Lafayette Consolidated Government's Environmental Quality Division at 291-8529 with any questions.
