Alonzo Thomas was arrested on March 24, 2013 by Port Barres Police for possession and intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana.
Police say Port Barre Police were dispatched to Bourques Grocery in reference to a suspected shoplifter. Officers made contact with Alonzo Thomas in the store parking lot.
According to authorities, Thomas stated he did not take anything and kept reaching into his the front of his pants. Officers conducted a outer clothing pat down for their safety. Police say Thomas pulled away in an attempt to flee and placed his right hand inside the front of his pants. He allegedly refused to remove his hands when ordered by police. Thomas was brought to the police station for further investigation.
Authorities say the transporting officer observed Thomas remove something from the inside of his pants and shove it in the backseat of the unit. Cocaine was located once Thomas was removed from the vehicle. Thomas was arrested for the cocaine.
Police say during the booking process, officers located three small bags of marijuana and $1144 in Thomas' undergarments.
Thomas was booked into Port Barre Police Department for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine), Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (Marijuana), Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses, Introducing Contraband into a Penal Institution and Resisting an Officer.
