Port Barre man accused of burglary

A Port Barre man is behind bars after burglarizing several unlocked vehicles.

On March 9 2013, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Port Barre police began receiving complaints of several vehicle burglaries on Willow Street and Oak Street.

Police say an officer conducted a field interview with Anthony Soileau around 4:30 a.m., on Willow street that morning. Field interviews are a common tool used by Port Barre police, during their patrol activities, to help prevent and solve criminal activity.

Once the burglary complaints were made, police made contact with Soileau at his home, according to authorities. Police were able to receive a consent to search the home and located all of the stolen items.

Anthony Jude Soileau, 31, was charged with 3 counts of simple vehicle burglary. He is currently being held in the Port Barre jail on a $22,500 bond.

To report any suspicious or criminal activity, please contact the port Barre Police Department at (337) 585-6212 or our Anonymous Tip Line at 9337) 585-2345.
