Port Barre High School Students Arrested For Pot

On September 21, 2010, Port Barre Police arrested two Port Barre High School students on drug charges. The arrests resulted from a tip the School Resource Officer, Mike Clark, received from an anonymous source.

Officer Clark conducted an investigation and uncovered Marijuana on Daryn Pryor 17 years of age and Dominique Griffith 18 years of age. Police were able to conclude both Pryor and Griffith had intentions to distribute the Marijuana to other students but were caught before a transaction could actually take place. Both students live in Opelousas but go to school in Port Barre.

"We keep a constant police presence at the Port Barre High School and our K-9 officers perform random searches through out the school year. We want the criminals to know that drug activity is not tolerated in our town nor in our schools".

Both Pryor and Griffith were booked in the Port Barre Jail on charges of Possession of Marijuana on a School campus and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana to a Student.
