A Church Point man is charged with theft after he allegedly stole $65,000 worth of goods from an elderly person's home. Police say 26-year-old Toby Fontenot had been hired by the victim to perform yard work. He allegedly stole a $25,000 ring and $40,000 in cash from a bedroom in the home after he went inside to use the restroom. He is also charged with resisting an officer and battery on an officer for allegedly hitting an investigator while trying to evade arrest.
