Police working to ID woman struck by car

HAMMOND, La. (AP) - State police are worked to identify a woman who died Friday night after stepping in front of an approaching car on Interstate 55 near Hammond.

Trooper First Class Nick Manale said in a news release that 20-year-old Brandon Carral of Amite was driving south on Interstate 55 when a woman stepped into his car.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office.
