MONROE, La. (AP) - Monroe Police Major James Fried says there was no way that three weekend shooting deaths could have been prevented by Monroe police.

The three died in two separate shooting incidents in south Monroe.

Two bodies were found Saturday. Police believe the men from Arkansas were killed in a robbery during a drug deal. Two people were arrested in that case.

Late Sunday, a Monroe man was found shot in his car. No suspect has been identified yet.

Fried told reporters Monday that the deaths were isolated incidents that could have been prevented only by the people who were involved.
