Police seek info about early morning Johnston Street armed robbery

Lafayette Police Department is asking for the help of anyone with information about an early morning armed robbery in the 1400 block of Johnston St.

According to LPD Spokesperson Cpl. Paul Mouton, "two employees were exiting a business and walking towards their vehicles, when a black male suspect allegedly approached one of the victims and told him to 'give it up.'" The victims reported that although the suspect never displayed a weapon, he kept his hand in his pocket as though he had a gun.

The suspect, who fled on foot, is accused of stealing two money bags with an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim's cell phone. The suspect then approached the second victim and stole his cell phone.

The black male suspect is described as having "facial hair, dark complexion, approximately 6' tall, 245 lbs., wearing dark blue pants and a dark blue hooded sweat shirt."

Detectives encourage anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect's identity to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
