Police search for suspect in shooting after two men are wounded

A shooting in New Iberia injuries two victims and leaves authorities searching for the suspect.
On Sunday, January 22, around 8:19, Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a reported shooting. Two victims were found on scene. One victim, a 51 year old male, sustained a gunshot wound to the back of his leg. The second victim, a 57 year old male, was found with a blow to the head that police suspect was possibly done with a handgun. Both victims are from New Iberia and were treated at an area hospital.
Detectives are currently trying to determine a motive for the shooting. Witnesses are describing the suspect as a black male with dark clothing and wearing a baseball hat. The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office asks that anyone with information on the shooting please contact the them at 337-369-3711.
