Police: Pedestrian's Back Turned before Hit by Train

Opelousas police say the pedestrian killed last night by a train had his back turned when he was hit. Investigators say 38-year-old John Fitzgerald was bent over to pick something up from the Main Street tracks when the collision happened. Police say the railroad crossing arms were functioning properly, and the train sounded its horn.
