Police officer accused of DWI, hit and run

The Lake Charles Police Department arrested a DeQuincy Police Officer for DWI, Hit and Run and Reckless Operation of a motor vehicle this morning.

Lake Charles Police began receiving calls about a marked DeQuincy Police unit allegedly operating recklessly, striking a fence at 229 West School Street and a tree at the intersection of Bayou Drive and Orchard Drive.

Upon arrival at Bayou and Orchard, Lake Charles Police Officers located the Dequincy Police unit stuck in a wooded area south of Orchard Drive. Officers came into contact with the driver who was identified as 30 year old Matthew Sollay of Lake Charles. Police confirmed that Sollay was a police officer with the DeQuincy Police Department and was off-duty at the time of the incident.

LCPD arrested and booked Sollay for DWI/ Hit and Run and Reckless Operation.
