Two women are accused of scamming an 85-year-old woman out of $6,000. The two alleged scammers at Walmart showed the woman a bag of what appeared to be "a large amount of money," Jennings Police Department Deputy Chief Danny Semmes said. They told her they'd share the money if she withdrew $6,000 from her bank account.
Once she withdrew the money, the three went to a check cashing business where one of the alleged scammers claimed she worked. They told the woman to wait outside while the manager checked the money they initially showed her at Walmart. The manager was supposedly checking whether the money was real.
The two women then walked out, told the woman the male manager inside would have her money. The woman gave up her $6,000 then soon discovered a male manager didn't even work at the business.
Police need help identifying these women who were caught on surveillance. If you recognize them, call 911 or Jennings Police Dept. at (337) 824-0423.
