A 26-year-old Broussard man is accused of punching a 16-year-old girl then hitting her and her cousin with his car. When police officers arrived in the 1300 block of West Peach St. in Eunice, they found a 16-year-old girl unconscious in the road.

Paul Flugence, 26, stopped his car and punched the girl after she and her cousin told him to slow down because children play in the neighborhood, according to Eunice Deputy Chief Varden Guillory Sr. "The older female stated that she was attempting the help her cousin get up when Flugence got back into his vehicle. The older female victim stated that as they tried to walk away, Flugence drove back towards them and crossed the center line of the roadway and struck both of them with his vehicle as he fled the scene," he said. The cousins were treated and released for their injuries.

Flugence is charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery, 2nd Degree Battery, Disturbing the Peace, Criminal Damage to Property, Simple Assault, Reckless Operation, Driving under Suspension, and Obedience to Police Officers.
