Opelousas Police are asking for you're help to find a suspect, or possibly multiple suspects, who opened fire at a gas station in Opelousas.
Police say it all happened around 5 this morning when they received a call about a shooting near the Creswell Lane exit off I-49.
Two people were shot, one is being treated in Opelousas for a bullet wound to his stomach. The second victim drove himself to a hospital in Lafayette. It is unknown at this time the extent of his injuries, or why he left the scene. Police say they are still investigating.
Police responded to the Chevron gas station, after receiving a call multiple shots were fired. Police are unsure how many people were involved. They say the incident may have been sparked from a previous disturbance at a local bar. At this time police say there are no suspects but multiple vehicles were witnessed fleeing the scene.
"We obtained information that there were anywhere from 12-15 shots fired," said OPD Sgt. Jody White. "So in reference to how many hand guns, how many suspects were actually firing weapons, that is all still be investigated at this time."
Again, there are no"suspects at this time, police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Opelousas Police.
