The Acadia Parish Police Jury voted unanimously Thursday to rescind an emergency ordinance regulating the use of "scare guns" in farming fields. The ordinance, which restricted the use of the carbide and propane field guns, was approved on March 14 and required farmers to shut them off between the hours of 9:00 P. M. and 6:00 A. M.
A group of rice and crawfish farmers complained to the police jury that blackbirds were eating part of their crops during the hours the guns were silenced. The farmers' attorney also claimed the ordinance violated the Right to Farm Act.
