The Acadia Parish Police Jury has approved a loan for $10,000 to fund the new Fire District #11.
According to police jury secretary-treasurer Richard Latiolais, the district exhausted the jury's initial $10,000 loan, which was granted in June, due to the high volume of calls it received. Those funds are used to pay the Crowley Fire Department to respond to fire calls in the district, which encompasses the unincorporated sections of Crowley.
Latiolais says the district is still working to secure trucks and other equipment so it can begin operation in the area.
