Police Investigate Downtown Homicide

Lafayette Police officers were called to the 300 block of Polk Street October 15, 2012, at 12:10 pm, regarding a man lying behind a shrub, next to a business.
Officers on scene discovered a 24-year-old man on the ground deceased. Investigators indicate that there was in an apparent struggle prior to his death.
The body of the victim has been transported to the Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office for further examination. The exact cause of death and the length of time the victim had been deceased has yet to be determined.
The case remains under investigation.
