SUMMIT, Miss. (AP) - A Louisiana mam has been arrested by Summit police investigating the shooting deaths of two women outside a local house.
Police Chief Kenny Cotton tells the Enterprise-Journal that 36-year-old Corey Cowart of Kenner, La., is charged with two counts of murder.
Cotton says law enforcement officers to reports of a shooting around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Authorities found 30-year-old Christie L. Wells in the front yard and 39-year-old Tomecka D. Williams inside the house.
Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman pronounced Wells dead at the scene. Williams was taken by ambulance to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, where she died shortly thereafter.
Pittman says the victims died from gunshot wounds.
Cotton says authorities are still trying to determine a motive but they believe the shootings resulted from a domestic dispute.
