Police Impersonator Arrested

(St. Martinville, La.)-On January 8, 2010, detectives with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Cody Patrick Theriot (27), New Iberia, for one count of False Personation of a Police Officer.

Patrol Deputies observed what appeared to be a law enforcement unit parked on a headland along La. 347 in Parks. The vehicle is descibed as a white Ford Explorer, with License Plate SLC462. It had several decals commonly found on law enforcement units and was also equipped with operable red and blue lights, an audible siren, and a law enforcement push style bumper.

At the time of his arrest, Mr. Theriot was wearing 511 BDU style pants, and a red and silver reflective "K-9 Search and Rescue Team" Jacket. During a search of the vehicle it was discovered that he was also in possession of two official law enforcement badges. A semi-automatic handgun, OC Spray, Riot Baton, Hand Cuffs, a police scanner, and a K-9 tracking harness were also present in his vehicle. Mr. Theriot is not a commissioned officer with any law enforcement agency.

Mr. Theriot continued to give different names when asked by officers of his true identity. It was determined that Mr. Theriot had an active arrest warrant for Drug Court with a $100,000.00 Bond.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Deputies are asking anyone that may have encountered this vehicle or Mr. Theriot in an "Official Capacity" to contact the Criminal Invesigations Bureau at (337) 394-2670 or (337) 394-3071.
