Police: Charges not expected in pedestrian death

Police say they do not expect to file charges in connection with a pedestrian death last night in Rayne.

The accident took place just before 6 p.m. Monday on the Boulevard near West D Street.

Investigators say 55-year-old Linda McDowell failed to yield to a passing car and was struck. McDowell was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was not impaired.
