Police asking for assistance in locating suspect

The suspect that led officers on a foot pursuit leading to a Morgan City school lock down on Thursday has been identified.

Morgan City Police are asking the public for help locating Broderick D. Junifer, 25, of Morgan City.

According to police, at 11:12 a.m., on the first day of school in St. Mary Parish, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle when the suspect fled. The suspect exited the vehicle and led officers on a foot pursuit near J.B. Maitland Elementary School.

As a precaution, the school was momentarily placed on a lock down as officers searched the area for the suspect.

Officers declared the area safe and the lock down was lifted, according to police. The lock down lasted approximately 20-30 minutes.

Junifer is wanted on the following charges: Charges: Reckless Operation of a Moving Vehicle; Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute; Possession of Schedule II CDS-MDMA(Ecstasy); Aggravated Flight from an Officer; and Violation of Uniformed Controlled Dangerous Substance Law.
