ZACHARY, La. (AP) - Zachary police have arrested a 12-year-old on drug charges and a Zachary man on numerous counts involving pirated movies.
Police Chief David McDavid tells The Advocate officers booked 57-year-old Gary Sloate with 950 counts of illegal use of counterfeit trademarks, 31 counts of prohibited sound reproduction without consent, one count of possession of tools and equipment for manufacturing unauthorized recordings.
Sloate also was booked with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
After an officer stopped Sloate for a traffic violation Tuesday night, McDavid said police noticed the 12-year-old passenger attempting to get rid of something and found that he allegedly had small quantities of cocaine and diazepam.
The chief said the boy faces counts of possession of cocaine and diazepam and obstruction of justice.
