Police: 2nd woman arrested in cruelty to the infirmed investigation

Morgan City police say a 21-year-old Morgan City woman allegedly neglected to give a disabled woman proper care, and stole thousands of dollars from her through bank card theft.

According to Morgan City Spokesman Captian James Blair, Heaven Daigle was booked Thursday on a warrant for cruelty to the infirm, exploitation of the infirm and unauthorized use of an access card.

Blair stated, the warrants stemmed from an investigation which detectives began on July 03, 2014. In that investigation, it is alleged that Heaven Daigle and a second subject, Bethany Daigle which had previously been arrested, were charged with the care of an elderly female victim. It is alleged that the suspects refused proper medical and physical care to the victim which left the victim in a severely frail state. The conditions were found to be unsanitary and a danger to the victim, according to Blair.

Blair says officers discovered the two women had used the woman's bank card to steal $2,835.

Daigle was located near Sixth St. and Gen McArthur by detectives and placed under arrest on the outstanding warrant. She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and remains incarcerated. There are no other suspects identified at this time, however the incident remains under investigation.
