PLAIN DEALING, La. (AP) - Officials in Plain Dealing are planning for the future.

The Bossier Parish town recently replaced its sewer system lines and is awaiting news on a $35,000 state grant that would replace several water lines.

Once utility improvements are complete, Mayor Dale Barnette tells The Times (http://bit.ly/x9mReo ) he's ready to shift the focus to street improvements.

The town applied for a $430,000 community development grant this year to overlay and level streets in northeast and southeast Plain Dealing. Officials should know by June or July whether they received the state funding.
