PINEVILLE, La. (AP) - The Pineville City Council has approved a resolution allowing Mayor Clarence Fields to purchase two pieces of vacant land near the Jackson Street Bridge.
The two vacant lots, one on each side of the bridge, front the Red River levee. Fields said the lots have been used in the past in conjunction with city events on the riverfront.
Tom David, the city engineer, tells The Town Talk the two properties were identified as being vital to any future development near the riverfront.
David said some of the plans are for an open-air pavilion to host concerts, continuing a jogging/bike path that already exists and finding a way to attract restaurants and/or hotels to the riverfront.
