Pineville's New Chief of Police is to be decided in October

PINEVILLE, La. - Pineville Mayor Clarence Fields has
finished initial interviews with all seven candidates to become the city's next chief of police.
Fields says, that he completed all of the interviews on Thursday and will spend this week evaluating the candidates before likely narrowing down the field to several finalists.
Fields said he likely will hold a second round of interviews with the finalists during the final week of September before making his decision the first week of October and making a recommendation to the Pineville City Council at its next meeting on October 12th.
The seven candidates for the job are Lt. Darrell Basco with the Pineville Police Department, Alexandria Police Department Sgt. Donald Weatherford, Pineville Capt. Joseph Salmon, Pineville Lt. Michael Gates, Pineville Capt. Shelby Nation, Louisiana State Police Lt. Kendrick VanBuren and former Alexandria Police Capt. Gregory Andrus.
