Pilot recycling program recruiting 500 households

NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - Adams County's pilot recycling program starts in April with 500 households.

County Administrator Joe Murray tells The Natchez Democrat that the program will expand in September.

Board of Supervisors President Darryl Grennell says the ideal thing would be for the program to target densely populated areas of the county first.

He says the county is so spread out that it's not feasible to run a truck out to an area to pick up one bin.

Murray says once the program gets going full-time, the county may install convenience stations for people who may not have the ability to have curbside pickup. He says the stations could be installed at the pickup areas in the Kingston and Foster Mound communities.

Natchez and Vidalia, La., already have recycling programs.
