Pilot Dead in Copter Crash

One person is dead following a helicopter crash in Intracoastal City. Vermilion Parish sheriff's deputies say it received the call at 8:20 this morning. Investigators say the craft crashed about a quarter of a mile from its where its take-off location, which the United States Coast Guard says is the Chevron Heliport. The sheriff's office says only a pilot was on board the helicopter, which was going on a test flight. The National Transportation Safety Board is en route to the scene to begin its investigation.
