The Louisiana House of Representatives has passed a bill that would rededicate hotel tax funds to preserving Holy Rosary Institute. The House approved the Lafayette Representative Vincent Pierre's measure Thursday with an 86-3 vote. Currently, those tax dollars--$200,000 worth--go to the Cajundome and the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission. The bill now heads to the full Senate.
The three "no" votes came from members of the Acadiana Delegation. Stuart Bishop, Nancy Landry, and Bob Hensgens all voted against the bill. Three other members of the delegation--Jack Montoucet, Mike Huval, and Simone Champagne--were absent during the vote.
