In the investigation of last month's alleged attempted abduction of 10-year-old Youngsville girl, police now say that the driver of a pickup truck fitting the description of the vehicle has been identified and interviewed and no longer considered a suspect or person-of-interest.
Police are now asking that anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Youngsville Police Department at 337-856-5931.
On Sunday, July 27 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Youngsville Police Department received a call that a 10 year old female had reported that a male subject in a light blue or silver truck attempted to pick her up while she was riding her scooter with a friend in the 300 block of La Villa Circle in Youngsville.
During the course of the investigation of this incident, video from a camera at a residence in the neighborhood was obtained which showed a truck fitting the description of one the young girl had given. The Youngsville Police Department identified and interviewed this individual.
"At this time, he is not considered a suspect or a person of interest in the case," reads the release from YPD Chief Earl Menard's office.
The release advises that there are no new leads or additional information, but that YPD, along with assistance from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State police, and the FBI continue to investigate the case.
Five days earlier on July 22, another alleged abduction was reported, when investigators say a man was reported to have driven up to a 6-year-old girl on Copper Meadow Blvd. and asked her to get into his vehicle.
Youngsville Police did not release any additional information about the prior incident.
