An elephant mascot with a bandage wrapped around it's head met students as they left Myrtle Place Elementary School in Lafayette this afternoon. The elephant handed out activity booklets to protest Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and their use of elephants in their shows.

PETA stayed on public property outside the school, and a spokesperson with the Lafayette Parish School Board says PETA arrived unannounced. Hear from parents and PETA tonight on Acadiana's NewsChannel at 5,6, and 10.
