Pedestrian killed in Vernon Parish

LEESVILLE, La. (AP) - A 19-year-old man has been booked with vehicular homicide in connection with the traffic death of a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 171 in Vernon Parish.

Louisiana State Police identified the pedestrian as 21-year-old Trevor R. Phillips of Osceola, Mo.

The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday south of Leesville, La.

Troopers say Aaron D. Blackwell of Bogalusa, La., was driving a 2010 Chrysler Sebring when the vehicle collided with Phillips, who was attempting to cross the roadway. Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.
