A pedestrian has died in a crash on US 190 east of Port Barre in St. Landry Parish. Troopers say at 4:08 am this morning, 24 year old Jordan Arnaud of Port Barre was standing in the outside lane of US Highway 190 next to his car which was parked on the shoulder. According to Trooeprs, Arnaud's vehicle had run out of gas and he was standing partially in the road while speaking to passengers in his vehicle. A 1991 Dodge Dynasty driven by 56-year-old Elliott Lazard of Port Barre, was traveling east on US Highway 190 approaching Arnaud. Lazard's vehicle struck Arnaud. Arnaud was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner. Lazard was not injured.
It is unknown if the pedestrian was impaired; however, toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
