Pedestrian fatality near Jeanerette

A Franklin man was struck from behind and killed while walking along La 87 in Jeanerette last night (November 25, 2009).
According to Troopers a Jeanerette man failed to properly negotiate the curve he was traveling and drove off the roadway. It was the attempt to re-enter the roadway when the Pedestrian was struck.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by a St. Mary Parish coroner and the driver was charged with careless operation.
At this time authorities say the crash remains under investigation
