SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -Scottsdale police were searching a middle school after a report of an armed person on the school campus Wednesday morning.

The report came to police before the start of classes at Cocopah Middle School at 6615 E. Cholla St. The campus, which is adjacent to Chaparral High School, was locked down for the search.

Students being dropped off were being redirected to The Catholic Community of the Blessed Sacrament at the corner of 64th St. and Cholla, said Sgt. Mark Clark of the Scottsdale Police Department.

Parents hearing about this incident were asked to avoid the Cocopah area and drop off their children at the Chaparral High School Auditorium on the north side of the campus. This is where all kids will end up, Clark said.

Search teams were on the scene about 7:20 a.m.

No other information was immediately available.
