MONROE, La. (AP) - Louisiana Delta Community College has partnered with the Ouachita Parish District Attorney's Office to create a diversion program that allows eligible first-time offenders to have their records expunged upon completion of a GED or a one-year certificate.

Delta Interim Chancellor Jerry Ryan and District Attorney Jerry Jones signed an official agreement Monday.

As part of the diversion program, individuals without high school diplomas will be diverted to Delta's GED/Work Ready U program. Work Ready U allows the participant to pursue a GED while learning a marketable skill.

Individuals who have a high school diploma will be diverted to one of Delta's one-year certificate training programs.

Upon completion of either program, all charges against the individual will be eliminated.
