Parrot Heads look to help out birds of a feather

A group of Lafayette Parrot Heads are hoping to raise enough money to lift the Zoo of Acadiana's parrot head count.

The Acadiana Parrot Head Club, a group composed of Jimmy Buffett music fans, will be at Sugar Jam in Youngsville on May 11 to raise money for the The Zoo of Acadiana to help replace Kiwi, the white-bellied caique which died after a recent robbery attempt at the zoo.

The club will offer face painting, airbrush tattoos and balloons by Jingles and Friends. The Zoo of Acadiana will bring an exotic bird to show and offer discounted memberships.

The Sugar Jam Concert Series, held at Sugar Mill Pond, will showcase local favorite Nik-L-Beer that night from 6 to 9 p.m.
